Another one of those articles about the radio conglomeration is up at the Washington Posts site today. You know the kind: corporate control, no unique formats, radio airplay impossible, no local programming… blah, blah, blah. The article does go into some fun Clear Channel bashing, pointing out their losses last year and the daunting size of the radio behemoth, I think that there is one point on the timeline that gets ignored. The Telecommunications Act of 1996 is usually seen as the villain that opened the floodgates of modern radio programming and ownership, but I would go back further and find a culprit from the 60’s.

CD Review: Patty Griffin-1000 Kisses

I picked up the latest CD by Patty Griffin this weekend. I’d heard her name tossed around but never had the chance to listen to any of her songs. But after reading an endorsement by one of my personal favorite songwriters, Bruce Cockburn, I figured I’d pay my money and take my chance.
