Linux Journal is reporting that there are two different reform bills that could make it before congress this year. The bills are similar in that would they would reform the anticircumvention provisions of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). The bill would allow users to bypass copy restriction systems for fair use purposes. Why are two bills needed? It seems that they are essentially the same, but would be introduced to different committee’s in congress, giving the success of one of the bills a better chance of passing. Read it here.
