The translated transcript of an audiotape made of a prank phone call placed by Miami radio announcers Enrique Santos and Joe Ferrero on WXDJ-FM/Miami:
Olga: “One moment. It seems that they are establishing a communication through another line. Maybe we can establish a bridge. Explain this to the president.”
The DJs pretend to explain this to Chavez.
Recorded Chavez: “Yes, yes. Correct.”
Olga: “We’ve just made a communication. One moment President. You will hear some music but it’s only for a few seconds. It’s just to transfer you. One moment. I’m transferring you.”
Chavez: “Yes, yes. Of course.”
Voice identified by the DJs as Castro: “Hello.”
Ferrero, pretending to be a Chavez aide: “Lt. Camil is speaking.”
Another person named Balenciaga comes on the line in Havana.
Balenciaga: “Ah, Camilo. Do you have president Chavez on line?”
Ferrero: “Yes, yes.”
Castro: “Hello.”
Chavez: “Fidel, good morning. Do you hear me? Hello. I thank you. I spoke to German yesterday.”
Castro: “Tell me. I’m listening. Oh, yes.”
Chavez: “Yes.”
Castro: “Yes, yes.”
Castro: “There are a lot of issues.”
Castro: “I am listening.”
Chavez: “Yes.”
Castro: “I am listening.”
Ferrero: “We have a third person on the line and it’s my duty to let you know. Do you understand?”
Castro: “Yes.”
Chavez: “Yes, brother. How are you?”
Castro: “Tell me and let me see if I hear you. Tell me you haven’t returned yet.”
Ferrero: “We have a problem with the line.”
Castro: “I can’t hear him. I hear certain words. I hear him say Fidel. And then I don’t hear anything else. What do you think we should do?”
Ferrero explains to Castro that there was an issue with one of Hugo Chavez’s suitcases that got lost when he went to Argentina last month. Castro was there, too.
Ferrero: “Do you know about the lost luggage? It has sensitive material. President Chavez is extremely worried because of that. Now in Venezuela the situation is grave and it has something to do with this. Do you understand?”
Castro: “Correct.”
Chavez: “Correct.”
Ferrero: “Fidel, we have to investigate this.”
Castro: “Correct. I understand. We have to investigate into that.”
Chavez: “Good.”
Ferrero: “Your agents that were with you in Argentina must make an extensive search. And the people that are responsible for this must be told. Are you informed that this is a number one issue?”
Castro: “I am informed and absolutely in agreement.”
Ferrero: “So you agree with the (expletive) that you have done to the island, assassin?”
Castro: “What?”
Ferrero: “Enrique Santos and Joe Ferrero from Miami, El Zol 95.7 You fell just like Hugo Chavez.”
Castro: “What did I fall for you (expletive)? What did I fall for (expletive)?”
Ferrero: “All of Miami is listening to you.”
Castro: “What did I fall for, you big (expletive)?”
Ferrero: “What do you have to say?”
Castro: “(expletive)”
Castro: “I won’t say anything…. shove it in your mother’s (expletive).”
Ferrero: “Miami is listening to you Fidel Castro.”

Typical Miami Exile 04.24.04 at 7:50 pm
Hey, I’m a typical Miami exile! I whine about the fact that I lost my opportunity to exploit the majority of Cuba! I also like to talk about all the bad stuff Fidel Castro’s government does and ignore the fact that Miami exile groups carry out terrorist acts on Cuban citizens! Fuck me!
midwesterner 04.24.04 at 9:57 pm
I think this is hysterical. Hope the FCC ruling gets reversed. Castro is a public figure, they called him in his office. You can’t take yyourself too seriously.

wow, I feel sorry for cubans in cuba. they seem like some really dumb (expletives)
Elian 04.25.04 at 7:43 am
No, it’s totally sweet living in Cuba. We’ve got the 2nd highest standard of living in the communist world, just ahead of North Korea! You can say what ever you want as long as it’s only good things about Dear Leader.
Maybe it’s like being one of the last three carrige whip makers. But if you were one of the last three think about what compliment that is to your work!

hey guys,
rotflmao…this story…though close to a year old…is still a laugh riot…and the typical hypocritical and political cluster fuck…for both castro and cuba…and the united states…its top political leaders and the fcc.
how so you may say? briefly…i will explain why…but first a quick review of the facts of the story with all of the international and political PLAYAS…for both cuba…the us…and the rest of the world.
fact 1 - castro hates the politicos in the usa…both republican and democrat…so DON’T even try to go there…with bush or clinton bashing.
fact 2 - most politicos in the usa…both republican and democrat…hate castro…and/or at the very least are still very embarrassed…about how 1 little political FLEA (with the help of the very political catholic “church”…who helps him to stay in power)…has for years…been a thorn in the side of the usa…by not only castro’s politics of communism…but also by how castro has been used…to prevent the american mafia…from reestablishing its foothold in havana…like it had earlier…in the mid 1940s and 1950s…during the mafia’s glory days in “copa cabana”. and as in las vegas…where the mob tends to get its say heard…there are all of the myriad of vices that always accompanies organized crime…gambling and prostitution to name a few.
3 - fact 3 - castro perhaps had his eyes on unseating george bush from office in 2004…when he started courting prez chavez…lol…in previous years…and as we all know…presently…there is political turmoil in venezueala…resulting in crippled venezuelean oil production…effecting the world oil market…and with opecs recent 10 to 20 percent cut back in oil exports…resulted in higher oil prices in the spot speculation market…which effected us consumers with a 10 to 20 cents per gallon gas price increase…which castro is hoping will cause enough disgruntle voters…to try to unseal george bush in 2004.
fact 4 - enter stage left…2 latino americans…just chillin’ out and having fun in miami…who do 2…seemingly simply…but yet truly brilliant things…they trick…not only 1…but 2…world leaders…into admitting on the radio…first to all of miami…and now to the rest of the world…by their conversations…with the djs…into being the dickheads…everybody already speculated them to be. hats off to the miami djs…woot…woot.
5 - fact 5 - why did the fcc wait so longs…before deciding to fine…the miami radion station…and the 2 djs? the fcc was probably laughing its ass off…too. well…you see…if the fcc had come down on the miami radio station and the 2 djs…immmediately after the truly hilarious “interview”…the whole latino-american community would have been at war with the feds and the fcc beaureaucrats…so what the feds decided…was to go low profile for a while…let the heat and the furor of the story die down…and hopefully be forgotten…and then come in and slap a “token” fine on the radio station and the djs…to let em know that enough is enough…and to let em know who is boss…so to speak.
also…perhaps castro and the us government worked out a secret backroom deal…whereby castro would stop using chavez to stir up trouble for us oil prices…especially during an election year…if the fcc would reign in the 2 miami djs…that embarrassed castro in front of the whole world “village”…as billary clinton used to say…lol.

all of you are such a arseholes, you seem to enjoy yourselves with the sufering of a whole nation. in the end fidel is gonna be there until he dies, if he ever does, and for better or worse there will be nothing we can do about it, so stop being so ignorant and beatching aroung. and something more constructive for the people inside the island.
