Radio & Records Closes Shop

by johnford on June 3, 2009

The radio broadcasting industry trade that set the standard for over three decades, Radio & Records, ceases operation on Friday. It is indeed the end of an era. For those in the radio broadcasting industry Radio & Records was much more than just bathroom reading material. It was the source for radio rumors, news along with the latest trends and ideas in radio. It was also the most coveted rag for finding a gig. The ‘newspaper’ would quickly exchange hands from the program director to the weekend overnight guy, quickly becoming a tattered beast and the most photocopied piece of print in the station. You could always tell when the station was about to change format…. the PD would leave it in the studio so everyone could find a new gig. Sad to see this old friend die. Here’s a screenshot of it’s last day of web publication.
