Dear Mr. Ford,
My name is Stuart O’Steen, and I live in Boulder, Colorado. I’m making a Ken Burns-style documentary on my family’s history, and I’d love to use some of your music in the soundtrack. DVDs will be distributed to members of my family for no profit; however, I will also use the DVD to market my services as a family documentary producer, and I sincerely hope to make a profit, eventually. Specifically, I’d like to use "New River" and "The Inverse Curve."
I value your work and strongly believe you should be paid for it Unfortunately, I’m not in position to pay at this time. I can only hope that I will be in the future. Of course, I’ll credit your work in the film credits.
If you’d like to see a sample of my work, you can find the beginning of the documentary set to Jaquie Gipson’s Hide-n-Seek (with her gracious permission) here:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=9aYI690fqL0
What I’d like from you is permission to use the above works for my documentary, “The O’Steens of Lafayette County,” including distribution to family members and for promotional purposes.
Thank you for your consideration.
Stuart
